Any Video Recorder puts a red rectangle on your screen. You can move this rectangle around and place it wherever you want; you can also resize the rectangle however you see fit. When you’re done arranging the red rectangle, hit the Ctrl + F7 hotkey and Any Video Recorder will start recording whatever is underneath the aforementioned red rectangle. That’s what you can do with this free Anvsoft product: record whatever is on your computer’s screen.

Any Video Recorder provides support for Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 at the time of writing this. To get Any Video Recorder up and running on a PC powered by any of these Windows editions, you’ll have to complete a simple installation procedure. Don’t worry, it will take little time and effort to complete this installation procedure.

There are two tabs at the top of this application’s interface: General Setting (set the temporary directory, the output directory, and the output file name) and Video Setting (pick the target frame rate and the video bitrate). Alongside these two tabs there’s a round, blue, Help button that you can use to change the language used for the interface.

Using Any Video Recorder is a very straightforward matter. Launch the application and use the General and Video Setting tabs to pick the output directory, set the video bitrate, and so on. Click on Record Now and arrange the red rectangle anywhere you want on the screen. Hit the Ctrl + F7 hotkey to initiate the video recording and to stop the video recording. Alternatively, you can set it so the recording will stop automatically after a set amount of time (stop in X minutes). The recorded video will be saved to the output directory you select, as an MP4 file.

Any Video Recorder, as mentioned above, is free software. You can use it alongside another free Anvsoft product: Any Video Converter.

Any Video Recorder is free, it is incredibly easy to use, and it works as advertised. It records whatever is on your screen!

Pros

Multiple Windows editions are supported; installing Any Video Recorder on a Windows PC is a simple task. Any Video Recorder has a simple interface that provides support for multiple languages. Any Video Recorder captures whatever is underneath the red rectangle and saves the recording as an MP4 file. Use a hotkey to start/stop the recording; set it so the recording stops in X minutes. Any Video Recorder is free software.

Cons

None that I could think of.
